- 01
Choose one image
Use a photo, artwork or design you own. A high-resolution original gives you more room to crop. Your image is read on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.
- 02
Pick a layout and crop
Choose a 3-, 6- or 9-post profile grid, or split a wide design into carousel slides. Pick the shape of each tile, then move and zoom your image. Keep faces and text away from the dividing lines.
- 03
Download and post
Create your tiles and save the ZIP or individual files. For a profile grid, post the numbered files one at a time, starting with 01. For a carousel, select them together in numerical order.

An image splitter for Instagram grids and carousels
Profile grid
A profile grid spreads a single image across separate posts. With the usual newest-first arrangement, the bottom-right tile must be published first. Pinned posts, rearranging your profile or adding new posts can change the final layout.
Carousel
A carousel keeps the pieces inside one swipeable post. Our online image splitter cuts a continuous image into equal slides, with matching edges and a consistent shape. Create 2–10 slides, then upload the numbered files together as a single carousel post.
Instagram grid maker: frequently asked questions
Is this Instagram grid maker free?
Yes. You can split images and download every tile without payment, signup or a watermark. No Instagram account connection is required.
How do I split a photo into 9 for Instagram?
Choose your photo, select Profile grid and the 3 × 3 layout, then adjust the crop. Click Create my tiles and download the ZIP. It contains nine numbered images. With the usual newest-first profile order, publish 01 first and 09 last to assemble the picture.
Do you upload or store my photos?
No. Image decoding, cropping and splitting happen in your browser. The tool does not send your image or its filename to our servers or analytics. Reloading or leaving the page clears the working image; downloaded files stay on your device.
Which file types can I use?
Use a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 25 MB and 40 megapixels. Export HEIC photos as JPG first. If you select an animated WebP, the result is a still image. Downloads are JPG or PNG; PNG keeps transparency, while JPG puts transparent areas on white.
Will the grid line up on Instagram?
The downloaded tiles meet exactly at their edges. The profile result also depends on Instagram’s thumbnail crop, your publishing order and pinned posts. Choose a matching tile shape, check the crop inside Instagram and avoid changing it for individual tiles. Future posts or profile changes can break a connected grid.
Why does my photo look cropped or soft?
The image is cropped to fill the selected layout without stretching. You can reposition it and reduce the zoom. Small originals may be enlarged to the download size, so use a higher-resolution image if the tool shows a quality warning.
How do I download the tiles on my phone?
Tap Create my tiles, then Download all as ZIP. Find the archive in Downloads or your Files app and extract it. You can also save each tile separately. The numbered filenames tell you which image to post first.
Can I split one image into a seamless Instagram carousel?
Yes. Select Carousel, choose 2–10 slides and pick one tile shape for the whole set. Use a wide original to keep more of your picture. Download the files and add them to one Instagram post in numerical order, without cropping individual slides differently.
