Open the data export

The official export is available in both Threads and Instagram:

  1. Threads: Settings → "Export your information".
  2. Instagram: Settings → Accounts Center → "Your information and permissions" → "Export your information".
2

Create a new export

You'll see your past exports on this page. To make a new one:

  1. Tap "Create export".
  2. Choose a profile.
  3. Select "Export to device".
3

Set the options

Before starting, set the export options:

Date range
All time
to cover your whole account history.
Format
JSON or HTML
both formats are supported.
Scope
Only needed
via "Customize information" (below).

Under "Customize information" select only: Your Instagram activity → Following, Threads, and Connections → Followers and following. Then tap "Start export".

4

Upload to Unfollow Checker

You'll get an email when the archive is ready.

  1. To download — repeat step 1: a download link appears on the export page.
  2. Don't unzip the .zip.
  3. Drag the .zip onto the home page — instantly see who doesn't follow you back.

A single archive contains both Instagram and Threads data — no need to export Threads separately (just make sure Threads is selected in step 3).

5

Compare over time — optional

A single archive shows who doesn't follow you back right now. The tool remembers your archive in the browser — upload a newer export later and it shows the changes over that period:

  1. New — who followed you during the period between the archives.
  2. Unfollowed — who unfollowed during that period.

The "Set as baseline" button makes the current archive your reference point — the next comparison is measured from it. This lets you track unfollows period by period.

Why it's safe: we never see your password. The archive is processed entirely in your browser — files never leave your device and are not sent to servers.
