Privacy Policy

Last updated:June 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what data unfollowchecker.com (the "Service", "we") processes — and, more importantly, what data we do not see. Your Instagram and Threads export is processed locally in your browser, not on our servers.

1

In short

The gist: your Instagram/Threads export is processed only in your browser and is never sent anywhere.

  • No account, no password — no sign-up and no access to your social accounts required.
  • Your export stays on your device — files are never uploaded to our servers.
  • Snapshots are stored locally, in your browser.
  • You're in control — clear all stored data anytime with one button.

That said, to keep the site running and improve it, we use anonymous analytics (Google Analytics) — details below.

2

Data we don't collect

Unlike many similar services, we deliberately do not collect:

  • your Instagram or Threads export — it is never uploaded to our servers;
  • passwords or access to your Meta account;
  • your followers and following lists — we don't store them;
  • your profile content, messages, or any other private data.

What we never receive cannot leak, be hacked, or be sold. That's the foundation of our approach.

3

How files are processed

When you upload your export archive, it is read and analyzed directly in your browser using JavaScript. All computations (who doesn't follow back, who unfollowed, etc.) happen on your device.

The file is never transmitted to our server, never stored by us, and never accessible to us in any form.

4

Local storage

So you can compare changes over time, the tool stores snapshots of your data and your settings (theme, language) in your browser's local storage — that is, on your device, not on our servers.

This data never leaves your browser. You can delete it anytime via the “Clear data” button in the app or by clearing site data in your browser settings.

5

Information we process

To keep the site running and improve it, some data is processed:

Analytics (Google Analytics). We use Google Analytics, which collects anonymous statistics (page views, device type, approximate country, referral source) and uses cookies. It has no access to your export or uploaded files — only to the fact and context of a visit. The data is processed by Google.

Server logs & protection. Our hosting provider automatically records standard technical data (IP address, browser type, request time) for security and diagnostics. On the contact page we use a spam-protection service (CAPTCHA).

Contact form. If you write to us via the form, we receive the name, email, and message you provide — solely to reply. The email is delivered via a third-party email delivery service.

6

Cookies & storage

  • Analytics cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies to count anonymous visit statistics.
  • Browser local storage. Used to keep your snapshots and settings on your device (this is not cookies and is never sent anywhere).
  • Form protection. The spam-protection service (CAPTCHA) may set technical cookies to filter out bots.

We currently do not embed social-media advertising/tracking pixels.

7

Third-party services

The site relies on a few external services:

  • Hosting provider — to run the site, plus a form spam-protection service;
  • Google Analytics — anonymous visit statistics (processed by Google, uses cookies);
  • Email delivery service — for messages sent via the contact form.

We serve fonts self-hosted, so loading them does not share your IP address with third-party providers. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these services.

8

Data retention

Because your export and snapshots are stored locally, we don't hold them — so we can neither delete nor restore them. It's entirely under your control.

  • Server logs — kept for a short period, then deleted.
  • Contact messages — kept as long as needed to reply and resolve your request.
9

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR in the EU and CCPA in California), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data.

Since most data is stored locally, you exercise the right to erasure yourself — via the “Clear data” button or by clearing site data. For data you sent through the contact form, write to us and we'll delete it.

10

Children's privacy

The Service is not intended for anyone under 13 (or older, where your jurisdiction requires). We do not knowingly collect children's data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

11

International users

The Service is available worldwide. If you use it from outside Ukraine, note that technical data may be processed in other countries (on our service providers' infrastructure). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

12

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. The current version is always available on this page with the stated update date. Where possible, we'll highlight material changes more prominently.
